- Friday 11th March 2016 10h : Beatrice Chatel (Chargée de Mission, Délegation CNRS) tells Simon Thorpe about the ANR “Insituts Convergences” call - deadline 11h on Thursday 21st April - less than 6 weeks away
- 11h : Simon (who is director of the ISC3T - Insitut des Sciences du Cerveau, de la Cognition et du Comportement de Toulouse), had a meeting with Jérémie Pariente, the ISC3T deputy director, Jean-Pierre Jaffrézou (project manager for the ISC3T), Déborah Méligne (project officer for the FHU HoPes) and Natalia del Campo (project officer for the NeuroToul project)
- 12h : They decide to combine together to put together a proposal with Simon as the front man with Jérémie his deputy.

- Saturday 12th March 14h : Simon starts a BaseCamp 3 project to coordinate the initiative. He invites a small group of people to join. He asks the question “What name for the institute?”
- Sunday 13th March : Simon learns from Bertrand Jouve that 6 other projects had been discussed at a meeting of the COMUE on the previous Friday, including two that could have real overlap with this proposal - one led by Bertrand based on the Institut des Systèmes Complexes de Toulouse, the other led by Bruno Sire (president of UT1) and based on the Institute for Advanced Studies in Toulouse (IAST).
- Friday 18th March 17h : Simon proposes “Toulouse Mind & Brain Institute” for the project. He has a quick check with colleagues and realizes that it’s quite popular. He acquires the domain name “tmbi.fr” and starts a doodle to see what everyone thinks. (The doodle is still in service - currently massively in favour - feel free to go and give your opinion)
- Sunday 20th March 17h : Simon realises that if the Toulouse Mind & Brain Institute is effectively just the English translation of the ISC3T, he is already its director, and Jérémie Pariente the Deputy Director.
- Tuesday 22nd March : Simon invites all the members of the CerCo, Tonic, CRCA and Octogone-Lordat to join the TMBI by creating a personal Google Scholar Profile, and then adding “TMBI (Univ. Toulouse) to the affiliation.
- 17h : Simon announces that the tmbi.fr website is operational.
